A Much Needed Look at the Political Question Doctrine

This book is a composite of essays looking at different aspects of the disappearing political question doctrine and the subsequent rise of judicial supremacy. Barkow and Tushnet's essays take a broader look at the history of judicial deferrence and its decline along with commentary on certain aspects of the doctrine that are missed. The doctrine is seldom discussed in the modern political battles for ideological control of the Court. This book is a very good theoretical debate that deserves more attention, especially post-Bush v. Gore, but likely will not receive much coverage. A very manageable read with each essay focusing on different aspects of the debate.
